  • Close all streams; treat an empty application.yml as empty config instead of failing
    with a NullPointerException; reject invalid YAML and non-mapping roots with a clear message.
  • Write the file atomically (temp file + move) so a crash cannot leave a truncated file
    with half of the generated secrets. New files are readable by the owner only; the
    permissions of an existing file are kept.
  • Add a package-private constructor with base directory and template source so the
    three bootstrap steps (copy, migrate, generate) can be tested in a temp directory.
